Community Initiative: Supporting Education

CUMBERLAND COUNTY COLLEGE – INTRO TO ENTREPRENEURSHIP COURSE / JUMPSTART SCHOLARSHIP
Century Savings Bank partnered with CCC to encourage entrepreneurship in the county. We awarded tuition and book scholarships to five students who enrolled in CCC’s new BU 122 course. The course guides individuals through the processes of turning their ideas/products into business ventures. Additionally, Jody Hirata, Century’s VP of Lending and Business Development, spoke on the topic of “Money Management” during one of their sessions. Upon completion of the course, students receive JumpStart Certification that documents they have acquired the necessary knowledge to be successful entrepreneurs.

SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAMS
Century Savings Bank also provided a scholarship to a deserving, non-traditional, CCC adult student from a low-to-moderate income family, returning to school to pursue a degree in finance or a related field of study. Scholarships were also awarded to a Salem Community College and Rowan College at Gloucester County student.

BACKPACKS FOR BRIDGETON CAMPAIGN
Having the right tools contributes greatly to the confidence and success a child acquires during their academic career. That’s why our Upper Deerfield location chose to again support local, non-profit group, Bridge the Gap and their annual Backpacks for Bridgeton campaign by serving as a collection site for and donating book bags filled with school supplies for distribution to underprivileged students in the area.
